Like any other manufactured product, the effectiveness of a CBD product comes down to one thing: the quality of the raw ingredient.
However, we must remember that the raw ingredient, when it comes to CBD, is unlike almost all others. Hemp is characterized as a “hyperaccumulator” and this means that the plant easily absorbs anything present in the ground where it was cultivated and farmed.
It’s quite simple though, Hemp grown in rich, fertile soil will yield excellent quality oils, where as Hemp grown on land rich in heavy metals (such as mercury and lead), will make it poor quality, and in some cases, unsafe for human consumption.

Extracting CBD from Hemp is a process that requires skill and time, two things that many unscrupulous CBD manufacturers see as an unwanted cost.

Organic Pharmaceutical-Grade Ethanol
Organic Pharmaceutical-Grade Ethanol is used to strip the CBD from the Hemp.
This process is generally considered to yield the highest amount of cannabinoids as well as being considered the safest method of extracting CBD for human consumption.
Supercritical CO2 Extraction:
Using this technique CO2 is applied to the Hemp at very low temperatures to strip the CBD from the Hemp.
This technique requires expensive equipment, a more complex refinement process, and expert production skills, but it ensures that CBD oil maintains its purity all through the process.

Toxic Solvent Extraction
If the name of this technique alone is not enough to put you off products manufactured using this process, knowing that they use solvents such as propane, hexane, pentane, and butane surely will. The process is cheap, but suffers low yields of low-quality CBD and can be extremely harmful to human health
Hemp is preferred to marijuana when creating CBD oils thanks to its innate low levels of THC.
The optimal level of THC present in CBD oils should not exceed more than 0.3 percent, so make sure that you check the labels or ask for lab results for the CBD oils before purchasing them.
Please Note: Although low, the original amount of THC present in hemp may still cause a certain level of psychoactive effects when processed incorrectly.
Quick Fact: Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is one of the cannabinoids present in both marijuana and agricultural hemp, and it is the substance responsible for giving a psychoactive effect on the body. It is what gives a user a “high.” Products low in THC should have no or negligible psychoactive effects.
Whole-Plant vs Full Spectrum
It is generally considered that CBD products manufactured using the whole plant are of better quality than those that rely on CBD Isolates.
Using the whole plant, rather than using only one part, ensures that the oil contains the full range of primary and secondary constituents of the hemp plant, such as terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids, that are believed to enhance the effectiveness of the CBD Product.
Check for third-party lab results when buying quality CBD
Buying products that have been approved by third-party lab results are considered prudent, especially with so many new manufacturers and products entering the market.
Independent labs exist to prove, as far as possible that the chemical makeup and health claims of CBD products are accurate.

CBD Oil is the most common form of CBD product thanks to it being the quickest and from a dosing perspective, the most measurable form of delivery.
CBD oil can be consumed as both drops, or for those with sensitive palates as capsules.
CBD oil drops are consumed sublingually (placed under the tongue) with its effects generally being felt between 5-20 minutes after consumption thanks to it being absorbed directly into the bloodstream, while capsules are swallowed and tend to take a little longer to take effect.
Edibles tend to be slower to take effect that CBD Oil, usually between half an hour to two hours.
However many people see edibles as a good option when they require a more prolonged effect due to the slow way nutrients/supplements are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream.
Topicals are applications with an ointment, balm, or lotion applied to targeted areas for relief from pain and inflammation. They are considered especially good for arthritis and injuries.
